Boys and Girls Ages 11-13 Begins August 2013
This semester course explores the struggles and conflicts beginning with the Spanish-American War and ending with a look at the United States’ struggles in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Open forum discussions and student opinions highlight this course, as well as the use of Web 2.0 tools to enhance critical and creative thinking. This course also includes participation by 10 PDS 6th graders.
PDS has been a 1:1 laptop school for over 12 years and is a leader in technology integration in the elementary school setting. Over 90% of PDS teachers have studied at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Teachers of Grades 4-8 Begins 2013 School Year
Techniques to Engage Silent Readers in the Process of Reading Comprehension
During this three-week course, educators will learn techniques to help grow students into proficient silent readers and thinkers of the literature that they are required to read. This interactive online course will give strategies to help students become actively engaged readers and thinkers.
Through PDS Online, Presbyterian Day School is offering online enrichment courses for students, educators and parents.
Boys Ages 10-14 Begins Fall 2013
Offered as a six-week or 12-week course and taught by one of the authors of Flight Plan: Your Mission to Become a Man, which is based on the Building Boys, Making Men program at PDS.
Topics include friendship, peer pressure, drugs and alcohol, girls and dating, puberty and sex, and others.
